Day 248 - Stars in our orchestras II - Philip Higham

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra has had an amazing sequence of principal cello players. William Conway shared his time between the SCO and the fabulous Chamber Orchestra of Europe. David Watkin was an acclaimed soloist and now comes Philip Higham. Yet another pupil of the St Mary's Music School assembly line he moved on to the Young Concert Artists Trust and pursued a remarkable solo career before joining the SCO a few years ago. You have to be a very special player indeed to win A Bach cello competition in the composer's home town of Leipzig. Philip will feature in the next SCO film from Perth where he will perform Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations conducted by the SCO's mercurial principal conductor Maxim Emelyanychev.
