Sometimes you just know that someone has star quality. Coco Tomita is a pupil at the Yehudi Menuhin school. She is 18 and clearly heading to be one of the world's finest violinists. She has just reached the final of this year's BBC Young Musician of the Year although the final will have to wait until orchestras are allowed to play together again. I first encountered here at a concert at Holyrood Palace to celebrate the 50th anniversary of a charity with which I was involved. She played Paganini's 24th Caprice and it was amazing to see the collection of jaws hitting the floor. We will be doing our very best to invite her to Perth Concert Hall in the very near future.
