Day 353 - Spring has Sprung - Easter Classical Music in Perth Concert Hall

We were very upset when Messiah had to be cancelled just before Christmas. January and February have been dark in the hall with no recording. However things are now turning and we are thrilled to announce 5 concerts filmed live in Perth Concert Hall and broadcast in late March and early April. The ingredients have all been written about in this blog over the last few months and include some of our very favourite artists. John Butt is possibly the most important interpreter of Bach's major choral works today and his performance of the 'Matthew Passion' with the Dunedin Consort brings a fabulous set of singers. The Maxwell Quartet offers Beethoven's 'Harp' Quartet and one of the Haydn Op 74 Quartets they have recently recorded for Linn. Members of the RSNO are joined by Susan Tomes in Mozart and Beethoven Quintets for Piano and WInd. SCO principal clarinet Maximiliano Martin presents a recital including Poulenc and Bernstein with pianist Scott Mitchell, and the series is rounded off by Messiaen's 'Quartet for the End of Time' performed by members of the SCO and Steven Osborne - more on Steven on Tuesday as we head to his 50th Birthday on March 12th! These last 4 concerts are presented in co-production with BBC Radio 3 underlining Perth Concert Hall's status as one of the UK's most prestigious classical venues. They are all filmed for you by our brilliant technical team and offer an opportunity to experience filmed live performances from within out wonderful and much missed hall. See you there!
