Day 349 - The Carloways: (Feels Like) Heaven

It's less than a month since we featured both The Carloways and Fiction Factory's classic hit (Feels Like) Heaven but we make no apologies for revisiting them both again so soon.

The Carloways' frontman Mikey MacLennan and accordionist Ian Scobie performed this lovely stripped-down version of the song for BBC Scotland's A View From The Terrace ahead of last weekend's Betfred Cup Final, the result of which left all St Johnstone fans feeling very much like they were in heaven.

* Released last month, The Carloways' debut album Resuscitator is available now from the band's website.

"The Carloways formed at Perth High School back in 2013. We were a group of best friends that wanted nothing more than to gig as much as possible!

Thankfully being from Perth, which has always had a thriving music scene, we had non-stop oppurtunities to play. We played venues like The Tams, Muckys (The Green Room) and Greyfriars on an almost weekly basis, even hosting a couple of weekly open mics. We started hitting festivals as soon as we could too, Belladrum, Eden Festival and Perth's Southern Fried to name a few. We've always been a live band at heart but I do wish we'd got in the studio a little earlier, with that in mind I am absolutley chuffed to finally be releasing our first album Resuscitator in 2021.

We recorded the album on and off over 2019 after the release of our self-titled debut EP. It's an Americana album but it's sung from a Scottish perspective. By the same token, it may have been recorded in Glasgow (45 A-side Recordings) but it's certainly a Perth album about Perth experiences.

It's been a long time coming this album, I like to think of it as the culmination of years of countless gigs and us maturing as a band. I hope people enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!" Mikey MacLennan
