An epic 80-song journey through 11 editions of Southern Fried, Perth’s festival of American roots music, showcasing the many incredible artists who’ve graced our stages since we launched in 2008. If you’ve ever wondered what “Americana” actually means, here it is in all its genre-jumping glory – classic country, melancholic folk, uplifting gospel, retro soul, rabble-rousing roots rock, ferocious funk, blistering bluegrass, rhythm and blues and always great, great songs.

Established in 2008, Southern Fried is a long-weekend celebration of a distinctly broad range of American roots music styles including country, soul, blues, gospel, folk and bluegrass. Each year we aim to achieve a complementary blend of genres, big names, emerging artists and completely new acts as artist discovery is a huge part of our appeal for our hardcore attenders.
·“That a festival with the huge reputation of Southern Fried exists in Scotland outside of either of the country’s two biggest cities is testament to just how much the four-day event has nailed what it does so perfectly.” The Courier
·"Southern Fried continues to occupy its position as the best Americana and roots music festival in Scotland and perhaps the best of its kind in the UK...all adding up to four days of joyous music concentrated within the centre of one of Scotland’s most beautiful cities.” Americana UK
·"Southern Fried is a very special festival. The venues are superb – from a recently restored historic theatre, to a modern concert hall, to Scotland’s oldest established hotel (the Salutation), and an outdoor stage – all with great acoustics.” No Depression
