Day 236 - Filming in Perth Concert Hall

Yesterday was a good day.! I was in Perth Concert Hall yesterday and there was real live music, played by real live musicians! The Scottish Chamber Orchestra were rehearsing for their next concert to be streamed from the hall later in November. So to sit down and hear these fabulous players rehearse Anna Clyne's Within her Arms for solo strings brought a lump to my throat. We are very lucky to have this amazing hall - without the stalls seats the sound is even richer - and it makes a remarkable film studio. The SCO works with Stagecast, the company who have been involved in streaming the Wigmore Hall's and the London Symphony Orchestra's concerts during lockdown. as you can see from the image our team have managed to make the hall look absolutely stunning. The other piece in the programme is Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings. One of his most striking works, it will be broadcast by the SCO directed by the mercurial Pekka Kuusisto, Alec Frank Gemmill (the SCO's erstwhile principal horn) and tenor Allan Clayton - one of todays finest singers. Yesterday felt almost like a normal day at the office - don't miss the stream late in November
