Day 215 - Keeping Going with the SCO

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra has always had a huge depth of strength in its musicians; there are many who have solo careers in their own rights such as cellist Philip Higham and clarinettist Maximiliano Martin. So, when confronted with the inability to perform as an orchestra, and not having a purpose-built home (yet watch this space!) they have elected to go down a different path. Between now and the end of October they are performing 6 chamber music programmes featuring soloists from the orchestra which are available free on the orchestra's YouTube channel. It is really interesting to see the contrast between the RSNO and the SCO in the way they are keeping their players working and also providing their concert-starved audiences with performances from their beloved favourite musicians. Both approaches are equally valid. Have a look at the SCO's online offerings which include Nicola Benedetti's Bruch filmed in Perth Concert Hall in September. The performances are online for a limited period so don't wait too long!
