Last week marked the first activity of any kind in Perth Concert Hall since lockdown in March. It was the Scottish Chamber Orchestra recording Masterworks which is the SCO's programme for upper secondary children. Normally we we would expect 600 children in the hall, but, inevitably this is now going online and being streamed. The work is Sound and Fury by Anna Clyne the SCO's associate composer - following on such illustrious names as Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Sir James MacMillan and Martin Suckling and underlining the SCO's commitment to commissioning. music. Clyne has a remarkable pedigree which includes a 5 years residency at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra ,. Sound and Fury is conducted by Catherine Larsen Maguire, another of the remarkable cohort of woman conductors driving the world of classical music in fresh directions!
