Day 185 -The Maxwell String Quartet and Perth Concert Hall

We regard one of our key roles as supporting homegrown Scottish artists at all stages of their careers. At the world-class level we have Steven Osborne and at the beginning of their careers we have a close relationship with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. What is really exciting is when a group's career goes through the gears from student to major international ensemble. We first encountered the Maxwell String Quartet when they were students and were enrolled on the national development scheme by Chamber Music Scotland. We offered them a lunchtime concert and then masterclasses with Erich Hoebarth - the leader of Quatuor Mosaiques and a revered figure in the world of chamber music. This led on to a three concert residency at Perth Concert Hall. Their transformation into stars was confirmed by their winning 1st Prize and Audience Prize at the 9th Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in 2017, with performances hailed as “superb storytelling by four great communicators" Have a listen - they really are very special and we are proud to have contributed in a small way to their success
