Day 107 - Support Independent Musicians: Bandcamp Friday

Since the streaming revolution, most working musicians earn the vast majority of their income from live performances. With Coronavirus, these have ground to a halt with no sign of a resumption any time soon, leaving many artists facing a very uncertain future. To help out, the online store Bandcamp is once again waiving its fees this Friday so artists will receive 100% of anything spent on music and merchandise.

We've put together a playlist of some great independent Scottish artists who have material on Bandcamp and would urge all of you who love music to support them through this extremely difficult time.

It embraces all points of the musical compass including electronic experimentalism, club bangers, face-melting metal, soothing pastoral folk, melancholic ballads, cinematic instrumentals, jazz vibrations, heartfelt indie rock and much more besides. Among the 40 featured artists are Soom T, Mogwai, Karine Polwart, Tanuki, Lau, Young Fathers, Sithu Aye, Mike Vass, Blanck Mass, Blue Rose Code, Memorex Memories and Kathryn Joseph and we hope you'll discover some new favourites as you journey through the playlist.
